A side note - Flash and Search engines

We’ve been building Flash websites for years now. We often get the “Flash and search engine indexing problem” as a response whenever we suggest a site has to be done in Flash. To avoid the indexing problem we have been using alternative SEO methods to make our sites rank (high!) in search engines with selected keywords…and this has worked perfectly over the years.

Now it has come to our attention something that has really excited the team: Google is indexing not just static text (as it has been doing since last year) but also dynamic content. This means that we can change texts through CMS and these will be indexed by Google. Of course this doen’t work for all loaded movies (yet) but for sure it will in the following months. Google is also indexing content embedded through SWFObject which is great news too, as now fullscreen flash sites can also be indexed.

So, Google is catching up with Adobe’s Flash, but unfortunately Yahoo and Live Search aren’t doing so. We hope they do, or they will be under Google’s shadow forever.
